A flat, free, metro-served one-way walk from Jiangsu Road to Jing'an Temple.
The Yuyuan Road (愚园路) conservation area is the Changning–Jing'an heritage street reported 'one of Shanghai's most beautiful roads' — 114 years old in 2026, a century of plane trees and Chinese-Western garden houses and lane houses (弄堂) protected as a historical conservation area (历史文化风貌区). Its character is the lived-in lane quarter: the 1936 Yongquanfang new-style lane with its steel windows and waxed floors, the LVK (赉安洋行) design of Yugu Cun, the 1932 Paramount ballroom, the community regeneration of the Siming Sports Lane and the Chuangyi old-factory campus, and the 可阅读建筑 (readable architecture) plaque programme running the street's length. The area's walk runs west-to-east from Jiangsu Road Station (Line 2/11) to the Wannangdu Road junction, where Jing'an Temple and its metro hub connect onward — flat, free and more local than the French Concession's famous streets.
